The PCP network spans 20 districts units. Regular competitions will now be held at the district and club levels. Some universities have also recently extended recognition to Paralympic sports.

New shooting ranges are being planned for the disabled athletes near Chandigarh .These ranges will soon be equipped with the latest version of the SIUS ASCOR electronic target system (EST).

Foreign Coaches
The PCP is striving to rope in international coaches for different events. At present, there are two coaches Rajinder Singh Rahelu the Power lifting coach and Manvir Singh Mangat the Athletic coach.

Dealing with the Government
The PCP has been interacting with the Government to bring about relaxation in the import policy for equipment  used in the sports.
The PCP has convinced the Punjab Government to offer cash incentives to physically challenged athletes competing at the international level. Gold, silver and bronze medal winners will be awarded Rs. 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh, and Rs 2 lakh, respectively. The state government has added cash awards for physically challenged players in their sports policy. The move will definitely encourage physically challenged athletes of the state to pursue the sports more seriously.

International exposure
The PCP is convincing the Government that disabled sportsmen can also win medals in international competitions. As a result, from time to time, athletes picked by PCP have not only participated in international competitions but also turned in exemplary performances such as at the Athens Paralympics Commonwealth Games in
Melbourne (Australia) in March 2006 and World Championships in 2007.

Selection process
Selection for National and international competitions is strictly based on merit. Regular selection trials are held of the athletes. Selection is based on scores achieved in these trials as well as national and international meets. The selection committee comprises the President and Secretary General of PCP  ,Coach, and an ex-eminent sportsmen.

Punjab squad
The PCP has laid down qualifying standards to gain entry in the Punjab Squad. These are updated periodically depending on the prevailing performance of the athletes . Those who meet the criteria are provided regular training under a qualified coach and their boarding and lodging expenses for the coaching camps are borne by the Government.

Every year, the PCP will be  organizing  the following competitions:

Now, the need is being felt to appoint technical officials with adequate knowledge about working of the equipment and to conduct competitions of the disabled athletes.

Fundraiser event for PCP

This year the fund raiser Triumph ’08 was conducted for raising funds for the paralympic committee of Punjab. The uniqueness of the event was that the history was created by conducting a Cricket Match between the Akalis + BJP (ruling party) v/s the congress (opposition Party) of Punjab. This was the first ever kind of event and the most interesting match ever seen in Punjab. This match was the brain child of sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu (Sippy Sidhu) and all the efforts were made by him to bring the three political parties together for a social cause.
